First Aids*

First Aids do not replace medical intervention; apply the First Aids only when a person's life is in danger, in order to assist while emergency personnel arrive or while the victim is taken to the nearest hospital.

Before continuing, please read the note on Use of this guide.

What to do in case of an
Emergency?

1. Keep calm, if necessary take three deep breaths.

2. Evaluate de situation. Check the surrounding to detect if there is any threatening situation: fire, gas leak, dangerous machinery, danger of being hit by a car. Prevent someone else from suffering an accident. Do not move the victim unless strictly necessary.

3. If the person is unconscious, try to catch his attention by shakeing his shoulder gently; see if he responds and determine his alertness. If the person does not respond follow the following procedures.

4. If the person regains consciousness, ask to keep calm accompany him but not force him to get up or move; on the contrary: invite him to continue resting, if possible it is better to wait for the paramedics to arrive.

5. Investigate. Ask how the person feels, if he has suffered an accident or has a disease (in this case ask if he has any medication with him). Carefully assess the person's condition, you can ask his or her name, age or current date to see if there is mental confusion and to determine how quickly it should be attended by medical staff. You should also evaluate if you need to apply some other first aid procedure. Read: When to require medical services
