Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is an inflammation of the ligaments that make up the wrist, pressing on the median nerve that goes to the hand and fingers. This condition produces pain, tingling, numbness, weakness, and may affect the musculature of the hand.

Some manual activities may predispose to acquire this condition such as using tools such as screwdrivers, keys, writing on the computer, playing musical instruments, and so on.

It also influences the genetic conformation of the wrist and other factors such as obesity, diabetes, alcoholism or arthritis.
