Generalities:

Chikungunya is a virus transmitted by the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, same transmitters of Dengue and Zika .
The incubation period is three to seven days. Symptoms may include: moderate to high fever, joint pain, particularly in wrists (arthritis, arthralgia), headache, skin rashes. There are no drugs against this virus or vaccine.

It is believed that the virus is native to Southeast Africa; It has a higher prevalence in South America.

Transmission :

By the bite of the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, which inhabit warm and humid places. As a preventive form it is recommended to use repellent, avoid buckets or places where there may be standing water that allows the proliferation of mosquitoes, use long sleeves.
Human-to-human transmission has not been proven, as it could be through body fluids
