Cystic fibrosis

Type: Hereditary

Generalities:

It is an hereditary disease that affects mostly childen. Both pairs of chromosomes are required to provide the disease to manifest. Sometimes it is diagnosed until adulthood.

Cystic fibrosis consists of an accumulation of thick and sticky mucus in various organs, mainly affecting the lungs, causing congestion and respiratory problems that can be fatal. It can also attack other organs such as the digestive system causing malabsorption of food and multiple digestive disorders. It can affect the Pancreas or the sweat glands.

Symptoms:

Delay in growth, constipation, gas, bloating, nausea, lack of appetite, pale stools, cough, fatigue, dyspnea, In adults: infertility (male), pancreatitis, malformed fingers.

Fibrosis:

Fibrosis is the accumulation of fibrous tissue in some tissues or organs of the body.
