Sjögren's syndrome: It is an autoimmune disorder in which the glands that produce tears and saliva are destroyed, which causes dryness in the mouth and in the eyes. This disorder can affect other parts of the body, including the kidneys and lungs. The cause of Sjögren's syndrome is unknown. It is an autoimmune disorder, which means that the body mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. The syndrome occurs more frequently in women aged 40 to 50 years and is rare in children.
